The New Zealand Army is introducing the Heckler & Koch Grenade Machine Gun (GMG) as one of their Land Combat Weapons.

Fired from the ground or vehicle mounts, the GMG is a 40mm Automatic Grenade Launcher that uses a variety of high explosive and training ammunition. In order to accommodate the transition the New Zealand Army has also purchased a combination weapon mount that will fit both the Grenade and Heavy Machine Guns.

A dedicated tactical simulation training system will be acquired and training on use of the GMG will be conducted at a unit level, specialist command training will be conducted at the New Zealand Army Combat School on top of existing courses.
