The Carl Sandburg College Community Education Program will be holding training classes for anyone interested in obtaining a concealed carry permit. What makes this news so interesting is that the college is in Galesburg, Illinois and the training is for a Utah permit.
That might sound odd, but it actually makes quite a bit of sense. Utah concealed carry permits are recognized in 31 states, so a permit carrier can cross most state lines without too much concern for variable state gun laws. It’s a bit ironic considering that Illinois is the only state that doesn’t permit concealed carry, but where there’s a will there’s a way. Illinois citizens can still prepare for trips abroad into concealed carry-friendly states.
Classes take about four hours to complete and require a $100 fee. That price tag doesn’t include the $51 registration fee that you have to hand over to the great state of Utah. With a five year duration, that’s breaks down to $30.20 per year for nearly nationwide firearm carry freedom.
Illinois residents — or residents anywhere else in the country, for that matter — may want to get in on the action. Here’s the long list of states that honor Utah gun permits. Just stay out of the northeast and the western states and you should pretty much be golden.
