The Times of Israel reports that the US and Israel are planning to hold a massive joint military exercise in October. This event will be a record-setter for both nations, as neither Israel nor the US have ever held a joint military exercise on such a tremendous scale.
The exercise will simulate a simultaneous attack on Israel from Iran and Syria, with an estimated arsenal of tens to hundreds of missiles cruising towards Israel at the same time. Talk about high pressure.
Thousands of US and Israeli troops will be preparing to fend off the fake attack. The US will be bringing its Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System and PAC-3 Patriot air defense platforms to bear, while the IDF will be testing out its new-and-improved Arrow 2 defense system.
If you ask us, their timing for the event was a bit off. If they could hold it in July rather than October, it’d be a truly unforgettable fireworks display the US troops stationed in Israel.
Of course, making some pretty lights isn’t the point of the exercise. The two military organizations want to sharpen their reaction times and find the holes their defenses. It should also send a pretty clear message to Syria and Iran: “Don’t even think about it.”
