The NRA Blog reports that Brian “The Guitar Man” Keyser is turning heads with his impressive marksmanship skills and his eye-catching custom gun guitar case.
Keyser competed alongside other sharpshooters in the NRA National Championship Revolver Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio this week. Even though he was the only competitor to place in the top three in both of yesterday’s matches (third in Harry Reeves Memorial Revolver Match and second in Distinguished Revolver), that’s not how most people know him.
The crowd affectionately refers to him as The Guitar Man. He earned the nickname, as you might expect, because he carries around his equipment in one of several custom-built guitar gun cases.
Keyser got the idea to use guitar cases years ago when he was cleaning out his home and spotted a guitar case, which was left there by the previous owner. He transformed it into a camo-themed gun carrier and used it for about a decade before switching to his much more patriotic stars and stripes guitar case.
He’s got just about everything he needs in there, including two guns, barrels, magazines, spotting scope, screwdriver, oil, spare firing pins, stop watch, powder, and a heaping dose of patriotic pride. Custom grooves cut into the foam keep the equipment secure, and a pillow placed on top before closing the guitar case prevents them from jostling around during transport.
We’ve gotta admit, this is a pretty stylin’ way to transport his equipment. Plus, he actually managed to pull off a gun guitar case without making it feel like he was trying to copy old-school mobsters.
