If you go to the link, you'll see that not only did he fire it, but it also produced surprisingly good groups considering it's 1) An AK, notorious for being inaccurate, 2) Using shitty no-name 40 year old surplus ball rounds, and 3) Made out of a fucking shovel.

It looks cool, but the two last pictures aren't the same. The left side dosen't match up with the right. It 's a great display, and I get the message and agree. But, it's not a pratical presentation.

For a long time (over 5 years) I've had all the jigs and fixtures necessary to bend and rivet a receiver flat and put together an AK from a parts kit, but I've always held back, partly for financial and time constraints, but I was also hesitant I'd screw it up and waste a lot of time and money. What if I didn't rivet something together "just right"? What if I didn't use the correct steel for the flat? What if I didn't heat treat something correctly? However, after seeing this article (the original thread posting, as well as these pics) it has restored my confidence in myself, doubled down my resolve, and reaffirmed my faith in the rugged simplicity and sheer awesomeness which is Mikhail Kalashnikov's legendary design. Kudos to this shovel guy.
