Folks, just google it like I guess Ben didn't and you'll get the correct answer from many sources. Gun deaths per 100,000 people in the U.S. is 10. Great Britain is .25 so Piers is still accurate. Not sure what difference it makes where he's from. All have freedom of speech here whether they are from this country or not

What's funny is their violent crime rate in not that much different that our own. And yes, he is entitled to state his opinion. But I am also entitled to state the opinion that he should excersize a little journalistic integrity and either remain neutral in mass media likes real journalist does. Visitors uave no business influencing legislation.

Mark, according to your rate of 10 there would be 30000+ murders in the US last year. FBI stats show 12,664 and I used census population in July 2011 of 311,591,917 to obtain a rate of 4.06. The rate of firearm murders is 2.75.

That sounds like you're also assuming a firearm was used for every murder, when it's really only about 65% of murders that a firearm was used.
