And the investment seems to be paying off. The Safariland is comprised of several established brands: Safariland, Bianchi, American Body Armor, Second Chance, SAVVY and PROTECH, B-Square, SpeedFeed, Kleen-Bore, BreakFree, Hatch, Monadnock, Defense Technology, NIK Public Safety, ODV, Forensics Source and Projectina. From riot shields to gun cleaner, Safariland is there and better than ever.
So you can imagine the size of their booth at the annual SHOT Show, in Las Vegas. I was just there, and I needed a guide. It felt a bit like I was on safari, only with grenades instead of lions.
But really what defines Safariland (and their other brand, Bianchi) is their well respected line of duty holsters. And they’re adding to it in a big way. They’ve come up with a new version of their ALS (Automatic Locking System) Holster. This beast of a duty holster has a solid retention system. It is available with extra space for a weapon light, and now they’ve debuted an option that will holster a pistol with a reflex sight.
Down the road? An ALS holster that will hold a pistol with a light and a reflex sight.
This was my first chance to see many of Safariland’s products first hand. And I really liked what I saw. They’re solid, well tested, and leading the way in the industry. We’ve got some coming to test out, so we’ll have more soon.
