My grandfather used to tell me stories about he and some of his buds, in the trenches of France during WWI, doing the same thing with bean cans on the end of the old 30-06 rifles.

Very few components are needed to fabricate ones own devices. We all should have these in our possession. Sugar, charcoal lump type, a heating element of some sort (even the collected sun does just fine) patience, cannot stress that one enough, and a few other things will serve you well. A petroleum product makes cooking faster and the end result bettet but bee careful!
