“This is no time to do business as usual,” was the message from the Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Amos released this past week to personnel regarding the government’s sequestration cuts.
“Save every round, every gallon of gas,” he wrote. “Take every single aspect or opportunity in training to get the most bang for the buck.”
Amos stated the purpose of the video above is to reinforce the White Letter 1-13 (see below), which he published recently on sequestration. It describes the impact the cuts will have on the Corps, and aims to reassure Marines and their families that “while we will face some difficult decisions, the Corps will do everything it can to maintain readiness while keeping faith with our Marines, civilian Marines, and their families.”
Due to sequestration, the Marines will cut $1.4 billion in 2013 and $2 billion in every ensuing year for nearly a decade.
