Sandy Mize, a Grandmother of 10, was at home this week in her Spokane Washington residence when she was intruded upon by a burglar. The suspect, 35-year-old Sean Denny, thought he would have it easy by breaking into the home of a senior citizen. But what Denny wasn’t expecting as he made his way into Sandy Mize’s living room was a warning shot and handgun to the face.
Denny immediately fell to the floor and stayed there unresponsive. “I asked him, ‘Did I hit you?’ There was no response, no movement,” Mize recalled. When police arrived Denny tried to flee out the back of the house, but was subdued with the aide of a police dog.
Local authorities stated Sandy Mize’s actions were appropriate and presented her with recognition. Sean Denny was arrested on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest. He is currently being held on a $25,000 bail awaiting trial.
