K-Var is expanding on their SAM7K milled AK-pattern pistols with the SAM7K-02, which includes an authentic Bulgarian polymer handguard with an integrated flashlight. This is a commercial variant of the AR-M4SF, which has a side-folding stock.
The flashlight handguard is Bulgarian mil-spec and has a pressure switch built into the side, which allows you to toggle the light without having to reposition your grip. It runs of CR123 batteries which are easy to find in the U.S.
The SAM7K-02 is chambered for 7.62x39mm ammo, which does well out of the shorter 10.5-inch barrel. The pistol version has a lengthened barrel and faux flash hider for improved ballistics as well as a rear single-point sling mount for extra stability.
It’s durable as hell, built on a hot die-forged milled receiver and cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel. The pistol has an extended rear aperture sight to compensate for the shortened sight radius, but also has a standard AK scope rail if you wanted to mount a red dot sight or even a long eye-relief scope for some distance shooting.
Like other K-Var firearms, the SAM7K-02 is a completely new gun, not a parts kit. The other specifications include:

- Barrel length: 267mm (10.5 inches)

The SAM7K-02 is in stock now if you’re looking to pick up an interesting AK pistol. The price, which includes the flashlight handguard, is a bit steep at $1,500, but this is a pretty unique and of course well-made firearm. You’re not likely to see many of these, ever.
