“This is kind of like a clean getaway,” she said. “I mean, it’s going to break my heart when it happens, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for awhile.”
Those were the words of Julia Merfeld, a 21-year-old Muskegon, Michigan, women who was caught on tape requesting her husbands murder to an undercover cop. Looking to cash in on the father of her two children’s $400,000 life insurance policy, Merfeld asked if the “hit man” would be able to shoot Jacob Merfeld in a botched robbery attempt, ideally outside “because it would be messy in the house,” she explained.
Merfeld pled guilty to solicitation for murder and is set to be sentenced later this month for a minimum of six years.
