NRA contributor and former U.S. Navy SEAL Dom Raso talks about the “new, better, stronger” background checks and explains that while they may appear fuzzy and warm on the outside, it’s futile to think one new law will solve everything.
According to the video, we already have a background check system in place, and the seller is required to run the information before they sell a firearm. If you lie on that form, it’s a Federal felony. In 2010, there were approximately 76,000 falsifications on said background checks, and out of those only 13 were convicted.
So Raso asks, why do we need a broader scope for background checks if the government isn’t even doing anything with what they have in place?
