This is pretty neat but it’s almost a shame to start with complete .22 cartridges, but hey, it’s not like you can buy primed brass. But tell me this wouldn’t be fun thing to build and shoot with kids.
You could probably do this with used .22 brass, though. Crush up some strike-anywhere match heads, powder them, add a little water to the powder and put the paste into the cases. Let it dry, presto, primed .22 brass. Since the ignition source is a flame the condition of the rim isn’t relevant.
