Rumors have swirled around two major new product families from SIG Sauer leading up to SHOT Show this year and we can now confirm that the company is launching a new series of duty pistols, the striker-fired SIG P320, the spiritual successor to the, er, under-successful double-action only SIG P250 and a completely overhauled SIG 556xi, an updated SIG 556 rifle that will replace its predecessor.
Both are multi-caliber platforms that can be converted to meet users’ needs. The P320 has a serialized stainless steel subframe that is the legal firearm. This subframe can be combined with slide assemblies, grip frames and magazines to change size or chamberings.
The 556xi has a serialized upper receiver that is also modular. It can be used with lowers that use either AR or AK magazines and fit with barrels of various lengths chambered for 5.56/.223, 300 BLK and 7.62x39mm.
SIG is packing their YouTube channel full of updates for 2014, including updated hi-res versions of some previous videos.
