A Texas man dressed in a banana costume and carrying an AK-47 slung across his back caused a stir Saturday after residents voiced concerns to the police.
The 18-year-old was hired to don the suit and sling the rifle as a way to bring business to Beaumont’s Golden Triangle Tactical. He also held a sign that pointed passersby toward to the store. The teen was detained and cited by Beaumont police, but not taken to jail, KFDM reports.
According to Derek Poe, the owner of Golden Triangle Tactical, his employee had the rifle slung across his back with the barrel pointed towards the ground. The AK-47 also had an attached drum magazine that held at least 50 rounds.
Officers collected pertinent information about the rifle and cited the teenager for soliciting in and alongside roadways.
