Burglar calls 911 after being shot during botched break-in attempt

Like something out of “True Detective”, a burglar called 911 after he was shot by an Iberia Parish, Louisiana, homeowner during a failed break-in Sunday.

Under the veil of darkness, Charles Prince crept onto a balcony and tried breaking into the victim’s bedroom door. The resident, having been woken up by the commotion, grabbed their handgun and discharged two rounds at Prince, striking him once in the left arm, KLFY reports.

The victim called the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office and informed them he had just shot a burglar. Shortly after, the sheriff’s office received a call from Prince reporting he had just been shot near the victim’s home.

Prince was transported to an area hospital to be treated for his wounds and was charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
