Gunman chases down, fatally shoots tow truck driver over repossessed car (VIDEO)

A California repo man lost his life after a gunman chased him down and shot him early Sunday morning.

The 50-year-old tow truck driver located his target vehicle in a 7-Eleven parking lot in Compton. The victim hooked up the car and drove away, only to realize he was being followed “by others in multiple vehicles.” The repo man collided with another vehicle, and when he came to a stop, one of the other drivers pulled over and opened fire, KTLA reports.

“I don’t really know exactly what happened, as far as with the repo,” said George Williams, a friend of the victim and fellow repo man. “I just know that they chased him.”

The suspects pursued the repo man until he wrecked into another car, and that’s when he was shot at least once.

“And I know that he stopped,” Williams said. “And then whoever it was … hopped out of the car and they pulled out a gun.”

The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated but later died from his gunshot wound.

Williams said the victim taught him how to repossess and expressed his condolences for the family.

“I just want to give my condolences out there to him and his family,” Williams said. “I love him. I was real close with him. A good dude. He was a real good dude.”

Police are still searching for the shooters.
