Amidst growing accusations of sexual abuse, the U.S. Navy announced Thursday that they are revoking Bill Cosby’s honorary title of chief petty officer.

In 1956, Cosby enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer after he served four years as a hospital corpsman, but the honorary title wasn’t presented to him until 2011.

However, the honor has been revoked after almost two dozen women have come forward accusing Cosby of sexual abuse, with some allegations stemming back 40 years ago.

According to a statement, “The Navy is taking this action because allegations against Mr. Cosby are very serious and are in conflict with the Navy’s core values of honor, courage and commitment.”
