A Pennsylvania teen is facing murder charges for the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy last week, and authorities say it was a selfie snapped with the victim that helped them to easily identify the suspect.
Ryan Mangan was shot in the face while in his home Wednesday evening. The following day, a woman contacted the police after she discovered that her son had received a photo of Maxwell Morton taking a selfie with Mangan, accompanied by some disturbing messages.
Authorities said they found the deceased teen in his home in the exact same position in which he was displayed in the photo.
A search of Morton’s home turned up a 9mm handgun, which matched the shell casings found at the scene of the crime, although Morton had a message with the selfie saying that he “cleaned up the shells.”
Morton was charged Friday and apparently confessed to the murder once he was apprehended.
The motive is unknown at this time.
