A 24-year-old computer science student who was apparently planning to carry out an attack on a church was arrested outside his Paris apartment Sunday after he called for an ambulance because he had accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Authorities arrived to find the man waiting outside for medical treatment and a trail of blood leading back to his car, which contained a small arsenal of loaded guns and notes allegedly about potential targets.
A search of his apartment uncovered more weapons, as well as devices believed to be used in communicating with someone in Syria. Additionally, authorities found Arabic material which referred to al-Qaida and ISIS.
The man, who had already been flagged by authorities before his mishap, is also being investigated as a possible suspect in the shooting death of 32-year-old Aurelie Chatelain, who was found dead in her car Sunday morning.
