California cop gets down doing the ‘Nae Nae’ (VIDEO)

A police officer in Sacramento got down with the locals dancing the “Nae Nae” during a community event over the weekend.

The Sacramento Summer Night Lights (SSNL) is an event aimed at reducing violence and bringing fun, safe activities to high-crime areas, and Lt. Roman Murrietta was caught taking it one step farther when he joined in with a crowd, consisting mostly of kids with some adults in the mix, dancing and singing along to the hit “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” Even in full uniform – duty gear and all – Murrietta pulled it off pretty smoothly.

The event runs weekly Thursday to Saturday from 7 p.m. until the crowd starts to dissipate, usually around 11:30 p.m. The Oak Park event runs through August 22 and the Mack Road event goes until Labor Day weekend.

“We always have two uniformed police officers on site doing exactly what you see Roman doing, community policing,” said SSNL spokesperson Jenna Abbott. “It’s a time for neighbors to come out and get to know their community and they help out in keeping it safe. Parents come out and they really help us to keep it safe for their children.”

There’s no cost for the event and a free dinner is given to those in attendance thanks to the Elk Grove and Sacramento City school districts.
