A 29-year-old man was charged Friday for the brutal sexual assault of an 82-year-old woman near her Milwaukee home earlier this month. The suspect, Stephen Ray Robinson, is also accused of sexually assaulting another elderly woman earlier this year and is being held with no bail.
The 82-year-old woman’s assault raised questions about the police department’s policy after the elderly woman waited more than three hours for officers once she called 911 to report the assault. Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn called the extreme wait time embarrassing and unacceptable.
Robinson is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and aggravated battery. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
