When Roanoke Rapids Police Officer Jamie Hardy responded to a 911 call last month from a man who was threatening to hurt himself, he wasn’t sure what he would encounter.
Hardy went to the home of David Bundy and the man came to the door with a knife in his hand. But Hardy kept his cool, talked calmly to the man and was able to take the weapon from Bundy without anyone getting hurt. And the entire incident was captured on Hardy’s body cam.
Bundy admitted that he was hearing voices after not taking his medication and smoking pot and was later able to meet up with officer who intervened on the dark day. Bundy apologized for his actions and thanked Hardy for helping him.
