Just in time for fall weather, Winchester Repeating Arms has two new Super X Pump Turkey Hunter shotguns featuring a Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo finish. The shotguns will be offered in both 12- and 20-gauge versions.

Break-Up Country is one of Mossy Oak’s newest camouflage patterns, introduced January 2015. “If you wake up every morning with a heart of gratitude and can’t wait to set foot on your land, listen to a turkey gobble, check a trail camera or climb a tree stand, then Break-Up Country is for you,” said Toxey Haas, Mossy Oak founder and CEO.

Built on the trusted and affordable SXP chassis, the Turkey Hunter is chambered for up to 3.5-inch shells in 12-gauge and 3-inch shells in 20. Both have synthetic furniture under the camo print and ship with 24-inch barrels. The 12-gauge has a 4-shot magazine capacity with 3.5-inch shells where the 20-gauge holds 5 shells in the tube.

At 6 pounds, 10 ounces in 12-gauge and only 6 pounds, 4 ounces in 20 they’re light for long days in the field, thanks in part to the alloy receiver. Sling swivel studs are standard on the stocks and magazine tube caps. The magazine uses Winchester’s Speed-Plug system which is a fast and easy way to install a 3-shot adapter to comply with hunting requirements.

The Turkey Hunter design uses adjustable Truglo fiber-optic sights in a rifle configuration for fast and accurate target acquisition. The barrel has a slightly raised rib as well. Full details and specifications can be found on the Winchester Arms website.

SXP shotguns use Winchester’s inertia-assisted action that automatically unlocks the bolt. It’s not semi-automatic, it just uses some of the energy to start shucking the manual forend. This helps prevent short-shucking improving reliability and also give the SXP a real boost in the speed department.

Like other SXP shotguns the Turkey Hunter has a .742-inch back-bored barrel. Combined with a black chrome finish on the chamber and bore this ensures a minimum of pellet deformation, tight groupings and good muzzle velocities for those longer shots.

These Turkey Hunter has everything you need to bag birds at a friendly price point. It has an MSRP of $549 20-gauge and $519 in 12-gauge which should put real-world prices in the low to mid $400 range. Each shotgun comes with an Inflex recoil-reducing buttpad and one Invector-Plus X-Full Turkey choke tube.
