Alexander Hamilton’s powder horn up for auction (9 Pics)

hamilton horn-1A powder horn belonging to Alexander Hamilton will be sold at auction next month.

According to the listing, the powder horn is one of the few known tangible mementos that belonged to Hamilton, a founding father and the first U.S. secretary of treasury. It has a personal engraving from him that contains his name, symbols and dates back to 1773.

Along with the horn is a detailed letter directly from a descendant of Hamilton that states it was his “great great great great great grandfather’s property.”

The auctioneers estimate the horn to sell for between $25,000 and $35,000. Bids start at $10,000. The auction starts on Jan. 11 at 2 p.m.
