A look at the rarely encountered Egyptian Rasheed Carbine (VIDEO)

Swedish engineering and oddball Middle Eastern politics brought about the obscure but really interesting Rasheed (or Rashid) carbine.

As detailed by the American Rifleman installment above, the Rasheed looks like a wonky SKS and even fires the same round (7.62x39mm), but its a derivative of the Hakim Rifle which itself is a take off of the Swedish AG-42B Ljungman battle rifle.

Few of the ‘Sheeds are loose in the wild as only something like 6500-8000 were made and that was 60+ years ago, but this direct-impingement wooden stocked carbine is kinda neat if you come across one.
