Authorities are working to determine the identity of a person who was found being eaten by an alligator Tuesday afternoon in Lakeland, Florida.
When officers arrived on the scene after receiving the call, they were able to get the alligator to let go of the body. Lakeland police Sgt. Gary Gross said the victim appeared to be a male and was likely in the water for more than a day.
Authorities said they weren’t sure whether the victim was killed by the alligator or his body dumped.
