A man arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old boy at a Cincinnati apartment building reached for an officer’s gun while in an interrogation room and the daring move was captured on surveillance video.
Officers had just finished interviewing Thomas Robinson, 23, when one of the officers went to handcuff Robinson for transport to jail. While the officer secures the suspect’s left hand, the video shows Robinson quickly glare at the officer’s gun, then turn away.
In a split second, Robinson made his move and grabbed the officer’s gun, although it never left the holster. Additional officers immediately came to help get the situation under control. With the help of a taser, Robinson was subdued.
The entire incident unfolded in less than a minute, and authorities say they will use the video as training material in the future.
