A 42-year-old Philadelphia woman was killed Sunday night, and the man responsible for her murder was her own husband, who she married just nine days prior.
Police received a 911 call around 9:30 p.m. after Pamela Nightlinger ran to a neighbor’s house for help. The neighbor said Nightlinger was bleeding profusely from her chest and collapsed once inside her house.
Authorities later learned that Nightlinger and her new husband, Paul Kuzan, 40, got into an argument before Kuzan grabbed a crossbow and shot Nighlinger a single time in the chest. The arrow apparently traveled through Nightlinger’s body and the chair where she was sitting, then lodged into the wall behind her. Nightlinger fled from her home, screaming for help. She was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
When police arrived on the scene, Kuzan was standing at the door completely naked and ranting incoherently. He was taken into custody without further incident and gave authorities a complete confession to the murder of his wife.
Neighbors said Kuzan had recently been acting strangely and police were previously called to the home on multiple occasions. Before she died, Nightlinger apparently said Kuzan had not taken his medication.
