Intruder’s hand severed by resident armed with machete (VIDEO)

A home invasion in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Saturday night didn’t go at all as planned. In fact, one of the suspects entered the home with two hands, but left with only one after coming face to face with the machete-wielding resident.

Police say the 28-year-old resident was asleep in the basement when two intruders broke in through the cellar door. One of the suspects was armed with what appeared to be a handgun, so the resident grabbed a nearby machete and started swinging.

Whilst swinging the machete, the resident completely severed the hand of one of the intruders. They both promptly ran out of the house, leaving a massive trail of blood along the way. The severely injured intruder was later dumped outside of a nearby emergency room.

That suspect is now recovering from the impromptu amputation and also facing charges.

The incident left neighbors rather shocked.

“You gotta know what you’re going into before you do something like that,” said neighbor Dave Dorvo. “It had to be something serious if you’re going to defend yourself with a machete.”

Apparently the suspects didn’t know what they were going into, and as it turned out, the gun they were carrying was just a BB gun.
