Dallas Police Chief David Brown made a simple plea to protesters this week.
“We’re hiring,” he said in a press conference Monday. “Get off that protest line and put an application in. And we’ll put you in your neighborhood, and we’ll help you resolve some of the problems you’re protesting about.”
And apparently, people heard him. In fact, the Dallas Police Department has received an influx of people interested in joining the force.
The city recently lost a slew of officers to nearby cities offering more money, but officials seem hopeful that some of those open positions may be filled. Of course, potential recruits are vetted thoroughly through processes like background checks and training. Those interested can visit the department’s website for more information.
