A 14-year-old boy wanted for a recent arson shot and killed himself Friday afternoon during a standoff with police at a Kuna, Idaho, home, about 20 miles outside of Boise.
The teen was a suspect in a July fire that destroyed two storage units belonging to a church-ran thrift store.
Prior to the standoff, the teen stole two handguns from a family member then barricaded himself inside a friend’s home. Another boy was initially inside the home with the teen, but he was safely extracted, leaving the teen alone in the house.
Crisis negotiators attempted to talk the boy down, but were unsuccessful. He suffered from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
