A jewelry shop in Plymouth, Indiana, put an unusual twist on their Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sales – they offered a free rifle or shotgun with the purchase of an engagement ring or other qualifying jewelry.
Of course, the jewelry store didn’t stock the guns to give away, but rather offered a gift certificate to a local gun shop.
“We’re appealing to our customer base – hunters, fishers, campers – or if they’re not into that they get a free TV,” explained Lori Van Duyne, owner of Fernbaugh’s Diamonds and Fine Jewelry.
Van Duyne said they received a couple of negative remarks about the sale, but most of the feedback has been positive.
“This is in no way a political statement,” she added. “It’s just for fun, trying to appeal to our demographic.”
Apparently, the customers felt it was fun too, as all who made the qualifying purchases opted for the firearm, while not one took the TV.
