A 55-year-old woman was injured at a Coconut Creek, Florida, Dunkin’ Donuts after a customer accidentally fired a gun when he dropped it inside the business Saturday morning.
Police say the man, who was later identified as Randy Barroso, 38, initially left the scene after the shooting but later turned himself in to authorities while accompanied by his lawyer. He was charged with culpable negligence.
Authorities confirmed Barroso had a valid concealed carry permit and no prior criminal history.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she was treated for injuries that were deemed non-life threatening.
A statement issued by the donut franchise said the safety and well-being of their customers and crew members are their top priority. The statement confirmed the franchisee is fully cooperating with the investigation.
