Springfield Armory teases future Saint variations

Springfield Armory says the future for the Saint, released late last year, includes more variants, but the company is remaining mum on exactly what those possible versions will hold.

In a Q&A session filmed during SHOT Show and recently posted to Springfield Armory’s social media pages, the gunmaker says they’re definitely not done innovating on the latest product platform.

“There will be a new version of the Saint coming out within the near future. I can’t really share what that will be yet but it’s something that will be very exciting and something that the market will want,” commented Springfield Armory President Dennis Reese said.

Jeremy Rosenberg, director of sales and marketing for the Illinois-based manufacturer, said its engineers and developers are tuned into the wants and needs of the market and consumers.

“We’re listening to what the market is saying and what we’re hearing and we’ll tie that into our product development in the future,” said Rosenberg.

After a lengthy build-up on social media, the Saint finally dropped in November 2016. Springfield Armory’s first foray into the AR platform, it has garnered mostly positive reviews from the industry.

Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, the Saint touts an overall length of 32.25 inches collapsed with a weight of just over 6 pounds. Utilizing an M16 bolt carrier group that’s managed by a mid-length gas system, the rifle features a heavy tungsten buffer. Additional features include an optics-ready flat-top design, flip-up rear sights, fixed A2-style front sight and Bravo Company furniture.

The current setup is priced at $899.
