The man accused of killing an East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputy over the weekend has succumbed to his injuries.
Louisiana State Police confirmed Tuesday that Brandon Wiley, 30, died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the shootout that killed Sgt. Shawn Anderson.
Anderson and another deputy came in contact with Wiley, who is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl, during an investigation into the assault. While details of the shooting haven’t been disclosed, an exchange of gunfire took place and both Anderson and Wiley were struck.
Both were transported to the hospital, where Anderson succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
