FIME Group added a new Molot RPK to its lineup of AK rifles with the new version chambered in the popular .308 WIN round, the company announced Thursday.

With the .308 experiencing almost half the bullet drop versus the 7.62x39mm, the round also offer double the energy levels at 500 yards. The gun features a 20.5-inch cold hammer forged, chrome lined barrel for improved accuracy and muzzle velocity. FIME Group says shooters can expect to see 1.25-inch to 1.5-inch groups at 100 yards.

The RPK style 1.5mm stamped receiver is 50 percent thicker than the standard AK. Utilizing reinforced trunnions, the durable receiver helps prevent flexing, fatigue and jamming under extended fire. The cartridge chamber, gas cylinder and bolt are chrome lined like the barrel. The added thickness allows them to withstand more rounds before heating up.

Equipped with RPK base sights, the rear sight permits windage adjustments without the need to tinker with the front sight. Built with a thinner front post, shooters experience less target obscurity with the front sight.

Rounding out the features is a tubular folding stock. Designed to make storage and transportation easier, the RPK’s stock is held securely in place by metal locking mechanisms. The stock is also outfitted with a rubber recoil pad not commonly found on AK rifles.

The new Molot in .308 Win is priced higher than the standard AK models, coming in at $1,249.99.
