An 18-year-old boy from Kentucky was arrested after a Bloomfield homeowner found him in his daughter’s bedroom early Saturday morning.
Chris Stevens said he was awakened to the sound of his dog barking and his wife screaming, so he grabbed his pistol and ran to see what was causing the commotion.
There, in his daughter’s bedroom, he found 18-year-old Garrett Inghram. Stevens said the bedroom had been ransacked and Inghram immediately put his hands up for the armed homeowner.
Stevens held Inghram at gunpoint until police arrive after what he described as the longest 20 minutes of his life.
Inghram was arrested on second-degree burglary charges. Stevens’ daughter was not home at the time of the incident and no one was harmed. There was no indication Inghram was acquainted with anyone who lives in the home.
Now, Stevens had a simple message for the young suspect. “Straighten your life up,” he said. “Don’t go down this path.”
