No, it’s not a joke.
Authorities say the armed robbery went down Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. at Monaghan’s Pub in Woodlawn, Maryland.
Joseph McInnis III, 21, and Tyree McCoy, 22, allegedly entered the take-out side of the pub, held an employee at gunpoint, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. However, unbeknown to the duo, the dine-in portion of the pub was hosting a retirement party for a local police officer and the majority of the guests were – you guessed it – cops.
Immediately after the robbery, the employee alerted the room full of officers of the incident and they promptly sought and found the suspects, who now face charges of armed robbery and possession of a handgun.
“I’m sure that they weren’t planning on there being a large room filled with police officers,” said Baltimore County police Officer Jennifer Peach.
Probably not, but that’s something the duo can ponder as they sit in jail with no bond.
