Port Richey authorities released body cam footage that captured an exchange of gunfire at a Florida home last week, which started when the suspect fatally shot his mother’s friend and ended when the suspect turned the gun on himself.
Authorities say Brian Disario, 30, suffered from schizophrenia but had not seen his doctor or taken his medication in about a year. According to reports, the shooting started when Disario believed his mother’s friend, 56-year-old David Armstrong, was hitting on Disario’s imaginary girlfriend.
Deputies responded to a 911 call from Disario’s mother and responding officers were immediately met by a volley of gunfire. A standoff ensued, during which time Disario committed suicide.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Disario owned at least two guns – an AR-15 and a .22-caliber rifle. The sheriff’s office, along with the ATF, are working to determine how Disario – a man with a history of serious mental illness – was able to obtain those weapons.
