A 22-year-old man from Rochester, New Hampshire, was arrested after authorities learned he used a stun gun on his own dog earlier this month.
“It could’ve been some form of discipline to the dog, but, again, we feel that it was a negligent act,” said Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas.
Police were called to a trailer park Oct. 15 where witnesses informed them the suspect, Gage White, used a stun gun twice on his mastiff mix, Cario.
“The dog was timid around Mr. White. It would cower down when he tried to call for it, tail between the legs, ears down, so that led them to believe that he’s been mistreating his dog,” Thomas explained.
White is also accused of putting the stun gun to a neighbor’s chest after the man confronted White about the act.
Cario was voluntarily surrendered, and authorities say White, who was arrested on charges of cruelty to animals and simple assault but released on a $1,500 bail, will never get the dog back.
