Springfield Armory continues expanding the Saint series, launching another new edition to its AR-15 lineup in the form of the Saint Edge.
The Edge packs in even more proprietary features which the Illinois-based company says makes it the most advanced Saint model yet. Lightweight, with a slick billet machined lower receiver, the system boasts the Accu-tite tension system. A patent-pending full-length free float handguard, modular trigger system, mid-sized charging handle and new SA-Lite muzzle brake are all Springfield Armory designed.
Chambered in the ubiquitous 5.56 NATO, the Saint Edge offers a 16-inch CMV barrel that is Melonite finished inside and out with a 1:8 twist. The rifle tips scales at just over 6-pounds with a full length measuring 35.75-inches with the stock fully extended. The brand-new SA-Lite muzzle brake reduces heft with its lightweight design. Featuring extra large ports and increased surface area of the baffle plates, the SA-Lite touts itself as a “highly efficient compensator” offering reduced recoil and steady, consistent on-target shots.
The rifle includes a 1/2 MOA windage adjustable dual aperture rear sight as well as 1/2 MOA elevation adjustable front sight. The sight can be folded down or used to co-witness with optics. The Saint Edge upgrades its furniture to provide a textured Bravo Company Mod 3 pistol grip, six-position Bravo Mod 0 SopMod butt stock and Mil-Spec hard-coat anodized aluminum receiver extension.
“The Saint Edge is a tight, light, fast-handling machine that operators can count on — the most advanced AR-15 we’ve ever built,” Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese said in a press release. “It’s a high quality, performance-based rifle with premium options built in — you don’t have to swap out features to upgrade it. We believe that, shot for shot, dollar for dollar, it’s the best you can get.”
The Saint Edge is available from Springfield Armory boasting a MSRP of $1,299.
