During the last 20 years in the USA concealed carry laws have  become commonplace in most of this country’s states.  This is where a person is legally allowed to be able to carry a weapon, normally a firearm, on or in close proximity to them.  These laws were brought about so that normal US citizens could carry firearms which members of law enforcement organizations have already been permitted to do. 

Today all but 2 US states have now legalized some form of concealed carry where they allow most of the citizens living in them, who quality and obtain a necessary permit,  to carry a concealed weapon.  Those who are able to carry such weapons are those who have no felony criminal record, are of a certain age and who have qualified with a firearm. 

However before you actually apply for a permit to carry a concealed weapon there are certain things that you need to consider first.  The first of these is of course to find out how you obtain the permit.  Also you will need to find out what laws have been agreed in the state where you live with regards to be able to carry a concealed weapon legally.  In most states today there is a need for people to take a class that will teach them the basics regarding use and carrying of firearms, along with teaching you about the laws regarding concealed carry. 

Of course the requirements will vary from one state to another.  Some states may need you to show how accurate you are when firing such weapons before you are able to carry one.  Also some states will require that you spend a certain amount of time at the firing range practicing with your weapon.  But of course there are some states where not time is needed to be spent at the firing range to get your permit.  Instead like other states they may just require you to have your fingerprints and photographs taken and background checks carried out.  

So how does one go about getting a permit to carry a concealed weapon?  Below we take a look at what you would need to do.

1.You will need to find out which authority issues these permits and it is to these that you will then need to submit your application.  The best way of finding out which authority you should be applying for such a permit to is by visiting the State’s Government website.

2.The next thing you should do before you actually fill in the application form is to take a firearms safety course.  This will not only show that you are serious but will be responsible with regards to owning any kind of weapon. 

3.Another thing you should do when applying for such a permit is to write a letter that explains and justifies why you need to carry a concealed weapon.  In some states to obtain your concealed carry permit they require a generic statement for your reason to carry, but in others they may only allow so because of your work.
