The Barrett 82A1 (aka M107) is a semi-automatic long-range tactical rifle chambered in .50 BMG and .416 Barrett.
Although the original design was to shoot .50 BMG, it is now compatible with .416 Barrett, which fires at a higher velocity and has comparable power.
The 82A1 is available with a non-detachable magazine (only compatible with .416 Barrett). The rifle is praised for its lightweight, low recoil, dependability and accuracy. It has an 18" rail on the upper receiver to mount accessories like scopes, sights, lights, lasers, etc. The 82A1 has a simple design, but it can be more difficult to assemble and disassemble than other Barrett models.
The 82A1 is used by the US and allied military forces.
Barrett recommends Model 82A1 for law enforcement, military and long-range competitive shooting, but also for long-range hunting. However, it'll probably obliterate whatever it is used to hunt.
