The Benelli M4 H2Ois a semi-automatic tactical shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. The M4 H20 has similar features of the original Benelli M4, the standard shotgun issued by the US Marine Corps, but has upgraded features and a higher quality finish. It was a new gun in Benelli’s 2012 line up.
What makes the M4 H2O unique is that the barrel and internal components are finished with NP3, an electroless nickel-based finish. In a nutshell, electroless nickel plating deposits a nickel finish on the metal’s surface without using an electric current. However, it isn’t a normal electroless nickel finish because it has a touch of Teflon. The NP3 finish makes the shotgun resistant to rusting under extreme conditions such as exposure to salt water, hard rain and high humidity, and on top of that it can function with less lubrication. In addition, the M4 H2O comes standard with a telescoping stock and pistol grip.
Like the M4, the M4 H20 uses the ARGO (Auto Regulating Gas Operated) system that directs gas onto a piston to drive the bolt back instead of into a tube on the bolt. This system helps reduce carbon build up on the action.
Features include a Picatinny rail, so scopes, sights, lights or lasers can be easily attached and detached. It is also drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Its standard sights are military style and adjustable for wind and elevation.
Lastly, Benelli said they will only produce limited quantity of the M4 H2O in the US.
