Browning BAR ShortTrac

The Browning BAR ShortTrac is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .300 WSM. The ShortTrac is also available in left-hand (oil-finished), Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity, and right-hand (oil-finished) variants. The BAR ShortTrac is a short-action rifle, which means it fires a shorter cartridge. While the BAR Longtrac (the long-action version of the rifle) fires 270 Win., .30-06 Springfield, 7mm Rem. Mag. and .300 Win. Mag., the ShortTrac fires only the .300 Winchester Short Magnum. Browning recommends the BAR ShortTrac for hunting.

The ShortTrac features an aircraft-grade aluminum-alloy receiver with a blued finish, but doesn’t have an engraving like the BAR Safari. The rifle’s composite trigger guard prevents the trigger from getting snagged on the shooter’s clothes. The gun has a 23″ cold hammer-forged barrel with a blued finish. The ShortTrac’s interchangeable recoil pad lessens kickback on the magnum cartridge and improves accuracy.

The gas-operated gun uses a multi-lug rotary bolt system and has a detachable box magazine with a capacity of three.
