The Colt Sub Compact Weapons is a select-fire carbine chambered for 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington. With a short 10.3-inch barrel and collapsible stock, the SCW is considerably shorter than the standard M4 carbine, but it also has a very specific purpose. Colt says, “(The SCW’s) design allows for quick and easy transition from vehicles and aircraft, providing much more firepower and range than handguns.”
It’s compact design is possible because it has a new bolt carrier and buffer system. The rear of the receiver protrudes out a bit, so it sort of resembles an AR pistol, but with a thin collapsible stock.
Although, the default design uses a gas operating system, the SCW is also available with a gas-piston operating system.
