Heckler & Koch SL8

The Heckler and Koch SL8 is semi-automatic rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO or .223 Rem. Founded in 1949, HK is a German defense manufacturing company that designs and produces small arms. The SL8 is a civilian version of the German military rifle the HK G36. The difference between the two is the SL8 has a fixed stock and a thumbhole grip.

The SL8 employs a short stroke, piston-actuated gas operating firing system in which  pressurized gas released from the firing of an individual round is cycled through a tube, aimed onto a piston, in turn the piston drives the bolt rearward to both eject of the spent casing and the chamber a fresh round. The SL8 offers 10, 20 and 30 round detachable magazines depending upon the variant.

HK recommends the SL8 for leisure shooting or target shooting.
