Description

The Ithaca Model 37 Defense is a pump-action tactical shotgun chambered for 12 gauge and 20 gauge. The Defense has very basic features as well as standard Ithaca features like the patented Solderless Barrel System where the steel barrel is fastened with lugs instead of being soldered together. Ithaca says this system prevents the metal from warping, which could happen during the soldering process. It is ambidextrous because it ejects spent shells downward instead of the side. The receiver was milled from a single piece of steel. The receiver and barrel are fixed together. And, it has a brass bead front sight.

There are a variety of choices with the Defense besides its shell like a black synthetic stock or a walnut stock, an 18.5″ or 20″ barrel, and, for the 12 gauge only, either a 5- or 8-shot capacity.

The Model 37 is widely used by the Los Angeles Police Department and Sheriff’s Department. Ithaca recommends the Defense for tactical use.
